Email campaign re-engangement tips

Header Email campaign re-engangement tips

The average opening rate for most companies is around 21%, so there is still a large group of people who are not opening and reading your email campaigns. You may find that you have one group of highly-engaged subscribers, 50%, and 30% may not have opened an email from you in 6 months or more. If you use third party email software, then you should be able to obtain this data - and I suggest that you take some time to analyse your data to get a handle on your subscribers’ level of activity (or let your VA do it for you).

So what can you do to re-engage this group?

  • Remind them of the benefits of being an email subscriber with a re-engagement campaign.
  • Ask them what they would like to see in the newsletter.
  • Include links from your popular past articles.
  • Include a highly visible and strong unsubscribe link.
  • Send the email on a different day or time.
  • Send a postal mail integrating it with your email message.
  • Keep the group segmented and send further targeted messages.
  • Repeat the campaign every 6 months

As new people come on board they may be enthusiastic about your communications and brand, but over time fatigue may set in with them too. Know who is engaged and who isn’t, and tailor your messages appropriately for each group.

Can you afford to take on staff?

Header Can you afford to take on staff?

Businesses struggling to recover from the recession will be crippled by a 'blizzard' of Government red tape and taxes that will cost firms £25.6billion over the next four years. Experts at the British Chamber of Commerce warn the costs mean employers will not be able to afford to hire workers - at a time when more than 2.5million Britons are looking for new jobs. David Frost, chamber director general, called for a threeyear ban on new employment laws to help firms cope with 'daunting' extra costs.

The biggest extra bill is from the rise in employer National Insurance contributions, which will go up by one percentage point in April next year. BCC research says this will cost £14billion.

Another big hit will come from the changes to workplace pensions which are due to be introduced from 2012. All employers will have to pay into a pension for their staff, contributing at least three per cent of their salary. This will cost around £4.8billion a year.

Others costs will include the Agency Workers Directive, under which agency workers will get the same rights as permanent staff after 12 weeks.
